St. Luke’s is a school at the heart of its community in Weaste, Salford. We are a family of amazing children, parents & carers, staff and Governors. We are extremely proud of our school and the exciting learning opportunities we offer our children through our cross-curricular enquiry based curriculum. Our vision for St Luke’s CE Primary is:
To grow a diverse and creative educational community where we encourage belonging and nurture believing: together becoming fulfilled and responsible members of God’s world.
This vision is rooted in Mark 4: 30-32... Jesus once told a story about a tree that grew from the smallest of seeds. As it grew larger and larger, the birds of the air were attracted from the shade and made nests in its many branches.
These ideas of Belonging, Believing and Becoming are more than just buzz words - they’re the guiding principles behind everything we do at St Luke's CE Primary.
Belonging
- to each other in mutual support, respect and trust
- to the communities of Didsbury, Reddish and Northenden, committed to playing an active role in providing outstanding local primary schooling
- to the Diocese of Manchester, as part of a family of 191 Church of England schools
- to the world in which we live, caring for the whole of creation regardless of race, religion or background
Believing
- in our gifts and abilities, as each child is unique and valuable
- in our potential, as each child will be challenged and nurtured
- in our Christian faith, as each child will be guided by our church ethos and values
Becoming
- responsible and productive - a force for good in society
- engaged and pro-active - ready to change and challenge the world around us
- aware of our vocation, with a growing sense of purpose and preference
- well-rounded and self-aware, through a holistic and broad-based education
Our Mission Statement
Our mission statement is based on the values of empathy and respect for all, diversity, integrity, faith and being proud of who you are.
'Nurturing the individual as part of a caring and sharing community'
The inspiration for our school ethos is 'The Starfish Story' by Lauren Eisley:
A man was walking along the beach one day when he noticed a young boy throwing starfish into the sea. He asked the boy why he was doing that becasue he didn’t think it would make any difference - there were hundreds of starfish on the beach. As the boy threw one into the sea, he replied ”It made a difference to that one.”
Our School Values
The ‘St. Luke’s Values’ of Faith, Wisdom, Aspiration, Compassion and Community underpin everything we do. Our staff and Governors are committed to creating positive change, to ensuring that every member of the community feels valued, cared for and are given opportunities every day to reach their full potential.
- Our school is a place of friendship where we have lots in common as well as all sorts of interesting differences.
- In our school we can trust each other because we all try to treat one another the way we would like to be treated.
- Values do not stand alone- they are a golden thread throughout the school.
- We are a Church school where all faiths and none are welcomed.
We have 5 school values - FAITH, WISDOM, ASPIRATION, COMMUNITY, COMPASSION.
